Ridgeview awarded 2.1 million from SAMHSA
Oak Ridge, TN — Ridgeview Behavioral Health Services was recently awarded a 2.1 million dollar grant by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA). The Ridgeview Reentry Program is designed to provide substance use disorder treatment and recovery services to sentenced adult offenders with co-occurring disorders.
Jan Cagle, Director of the program, said, “We’re delighted to be partnering with the criminal justice systems of Anderson, Morgan, and Roane County jails to provide this much needed treatment intervention prior to an individual’s release. We are better positioned to have lasting, sustained treatment and recovery if we can successfully engage with people prior to their release.” She added, “Housing, employment, and other treatment supports in those communities are also key stakeholders to successful offender reentry, and we look forward to working with them.”
Ridgeview CEO, Brian Buuck, added, “Ridgeview is committed to responding to the needs of the community, and with the expanding opioid epidemic, offering mental health and substance abuse treatment combined with employment and housing supports is in alignment with our mission and a positive way to reinforce hope and healing to people who long for lasting recovery.”
Five year funding for the program begins September 30 with a goal of treating 300 individuals over the course of the grant. Ridgeview Reentry Program is strengthened by its partnership with the Social Work Office of Research and Public Service at the University of Tennessee (UT-SWORPS) to assist with data analysis, performance measurement, and overall evaluation of program effectiveness.
